CLASSIFYING A SACRED NUMBER 108
When I first decided to write this book, I decided to collect 108 miracles to make it the same length as that of the Hindu Rosary, which has 108 beads.
The number 108 is a sacred number in my own Hindu faith and is used in prayer as handed down from ancient Vedic times.
As I continued my research of miracles I found the number 108, or its numeric equivalent, is an important number in many faiths.
The catholic Rosary has 54 beads equaling 9. The Buddhist Rosary also has 108 beads.
In the Jewish faith the number 18 is also the word for life, and Islamic prayer beads have 33 beads which when prayers on 3 times (the number of names for their Allah) it equals 99 which added together is 18, the same numerical vibration of 108.
In Hinduism it is believed that using the number 108 for prayer helps to coordinate the one praying to the rhythm of time and space. Also that they remain in harmony with the spiritual powers of nature. When devotees recite 108 chants, they are giving their love and complete respect to the Supreme Being.
108 beads on the rosary utilizes following principle:
1 stands for Supreme power.
0 stands for completeness in spiritual practice.
8 stands for eternity.

The number 1 of the 108, and the number 8 of 108, when added together, equals 9, which is considered the last number of the numerical scale before the numbers begin to multiply. Thus making 108 a very dynamic vibrational force when used in prayer.
